When it comes to our signature wrap bracelets, feel free to spot clean them as needed with a damp cloth. Avoid submerging them in water, and use a color-free detergent for spot cleaning if necessary. To remove mildew, mix one cup of rubbing alcohol per one cup of water, and then wipe the affected area with a soft cloth. We also recommend storing your leather pieces in a cool, dry place for safekeeping.
Sterling silver is best cleaned with a mild soap-and-water solution. Avoid chlorine water and paper products, which can scratch your silver. Store these pieces individually in a cool, dry place away from light and air. Additionally, our sterling silver engraved buttons can be cleaned with a sterling silver polishing cloth or a sterling silver liquid solution.
Yellow gold should be kept separate from other jewelry to prevent scratching, and you should always remove your gold designs prior to showering or cleaning. Mix soap and water with a few drops of ammonia to create a mild cleaning solution, or use a yellow gold-specific cleaner if you prefer. Brush your gold designs with a toothbrush to remove any tarnish, rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry.
Caring for precious stones and minerals depends on the specific type of stone. Clean turquoise in warm, sudsy water and dry immediately with a soft cloth. Avoid high heat and chemicals -- oils and perfumes as well as household and commercial jewelry cleaners can damage turquoise.
For labradorite, use soapy water and a soft cloth to clean. Be sure to rinse well, and avoid ultrasonic cleaners and steamers. Classic pearls are best cleaned with a simple solution of non-detergent soap and water. Avoid chlorine, vinegar, detergents, household cleaning products and cosmetics, and never store your pearls in plastic bags or overly dry rooms.
While horn and bone may look tough and durable, you'll want to avoid exposing them to water and other liquids in order to prevent damage. Instead, apply coconut oil or jojoba oil to maintain their natural colors. In addition, all Chan Luu jewelry comes with a silk mesh bag or a silk box for added protection. These are great ways to store your jewelry designs when they are not being worn.
All of our scarves are dry clean only, and all Chan Luu apparel comes with care instructions specific to each item on the attached label. Of course, if you have any additional questions regarding product care, please contact our store's customer service department by phone or email.
